 sudo vi /etc/network/interfaces
調べると
 post-up iwconfig eth0 rate 54M
となっていたので，
 post-up iwconfig wlan0 rate 54M
変更すると改善された．

-- Ubuntu8.04 を9.04に起動したら，アプリが落ちるようになった．さらに 9.10 にあげても現象が直らない．[[どうやら Atok のせいらしい:http://hexe19.net/2009/04/24/76/upgrade-ubuntu-810-to-904-atok-gets-mad/]]．
Esc でセーフモードーで起動し，root ログイン．

 $ aptitude remove iiimf-client-lib iiimf-gtk iiimf-properties
   iiimf-protocol-lib iiimf-server iiimf-x

 $ sudo apt-get purge iiim-x

atokのライブラリを消し去り，再インストール．
-- R が起動できなくなっていた．この段階で Emacs から R を起動しようとすると，永遠に画面分割を繰り返してしまう．驚いた．とりあえず，R-2.10.0 をインストールしたら，正常に戻った．
